RAAF SPITFIRE PILOT 1943

Naked Army's cold-cast bronze statue is based on gear worn by F/LT Edward 'Teddy' Hall, while a flight leader posted with 452 (Spitfire) Squadron RAAF, Darwin 1943.
PO Hall wears goggles, boots and gloves from his previous posting with the RAF, combined with airtex helmet, khaki drill shirt and 'Bombay Bloomer' shorts, well suited to conditions in the tropics. A 'seat pack' parachute harness and mid-war pattern ‘41 Mae West life vest complete the statue. Variants of the same tropical / summer uniform and flight gear were worn by British Commonwealth fighter pilots in the North African and Pacific theaters of operation during WW2.
